Ternplate tanks were almost all replaced by aluminum tanks. Ternplate is a steel sheet dipped in terne which is an alloy of lead. They were heavy and prone to corrode. ERCO switched from ternplate to aluminum early on. I believe there is a Ercoupe service bulletin on these tanks.
