I had a similar problem, and my IA (Matt Gunsch) installed a couple of standard stainless steel worm gear clamps in addition to the usual ones. I have not had any movement problems since.

I fought this for years. Replaced the stacks, tried the pinned Piper clamps, but my muffler always moved around in the stacks, wearing them down. Finally I bought a set of straight stacks from Dawley, Alon style. I’ve had no problems since. They are pricey nowadays and the bottom cowl has to be reworked for the new stacks, but it sure is nice not to worry about my dancing muffler!

I have a considerable exhaust leak coming out of each side’s muffler attach point (exhaust marks on each side of the plane) due to not being able to close the gap at either clamp. Has anyone else ran into this and what alternative clamps/methods did you use? Thanks!
