The M10 I have owned for some 10 years has the spring gear. I fly off grass and hard surface runways and really like the gear, quite robust.

My M-10 has the spring gear and it is very stout. I also fly off a grass runway routinely with no issues. The only issue I have had is I can't find wheel pants for them as they are different than the pants for the trailing link gear. If there are no existing cracks, the gear should be fine so inspect it carefully before you go for it.

Hello, I am a new EOC member thinking of buying an M10 Cadet with spring gear.
How stout is this gear? The Cadet I plan to look at this weekend, the owner routinely goes to grass strips. At first I was impressed; now concerned.
Univair does not offer the gear, and used ones are near impossible to get according to Vernon Gregory.
I am more familiar with homebuilts, and the spring gear themselves are usually not an issue.
Given normal operations, am I being over concerned?
Appreciate any experience; thank you....
