Bring the engine to top dead center on any cylinder, mount the prop blades 30 degrees clockwise from vertical.

I guess you don’t want it at 10-4 at TDC. You want it to start the compression stroke. I haven’t actually noticed when the impulse coupling clicks. All I can say is the position should make hand propping easy. That same position causes the least vibration. When the prop stops when you shut down it should be at 10-4. I was wrong when I said TDC. That could well be 1-7 when the impulse coupling fires. Sorry.

Larry I read the article and it is saying -

The correct procedure to check the clocking is to rotate the
engine by hand until you hear the impulse coupling on the
mag “click”. The engine will now be on top dead center. If
the prop’s clocking is correct, while looking from the front,
the blades should now be between 1 & 2 o’clock and 7 & 8
o’clock.

Is the 10/4 as you see it from the cockpit?
