The numbers were given to ERCO in blocks. There was a big block early in production that were all numeric and started with 9. The later serial numbers ended with H. I don’t have the the serial number-to-registration mapping, but was just the luck of the draw.

I'm a new Ercoupe owner, and I've noticed that every Ercoupe I've ever seen has an N-number that ends in "H". Does anyone know why? My theory is that it's a subtle reference to the Ercoupe's twin tail. Anybody know if this is true?
