I've installed a couple of AV-30s in Ercoupes, one with and one without the mag.  Curious why you would need the mag if you are also installing a tail beacon X?  I thought you could use the gps input from the X to keep the AV-30 heading from drifting.

I bought the Ercoupe adapter from uAvionix and cut it a bit for the tailbeaconx. I had no problem ordering it. .The orange on belongs to Raymond Knox who helped me modify mine.  You need to cut the tail one nav light bracket as well. I used a dremel.

When EOC did a group buy of tailBeacons back in 2019, uAvionic actually engineered a nice mount for installing it in a 415 tail cone. They were free to those who bought the tailBeacon in our group buy and cost $50 to those who bought their tailBeacon on their own. They didn’t make many and they were gone quickly. A member designed a spacer that can be 3D printed for mounting the tailBeacon in the old Grimes rear position light fixture. It’s still available on the club website as an .stl file.
I don’t know anything about tailBeaconX units, but maybe the old adapter can be updated?

				Greg,
I am installing a TailbeaconX in my 46-C. Your post talked about modifying the adapter. Is there something available that fits in the light mount special to the Ercoupe? I don't see where to purchase such an "adapter".

Thx. Would love to see a photo of what you did if you have one. I currently have the wings off which would probably make it easier..

UNDER is correct. But that doesn’t fit my flying mission. Also, I often don’t necessarily plan 12 hours out for Bravo penetration as I often fly to places on a whim.
Also, flying to SNF a couple years ago I was amazed and a bit shocked at how many times aircraft blew past me at close range and much higher speed and probably never saw me. Before I had ADSB Out (and “in” via ForeFlight) I was not an advocate of ADSB. I thought like many that it was just another way to make ownership of a plane even more expensive. Now that I’ve been using it for over 4 years I won’t fly without it. Granted the other guy may not have ADSB-IN, but it does better my odds of being seen and avoided.
